The third RacingByrds AutoX Challenge presented by Falken Tire will take place at the AutoClub Speedway in Fontana on August 21st & 22nd.
What is it you ask… autocross with a twist! This 2-day event is designed to give you some great competition, lots of runs, and something a little different.
Saturday is pretty straight forward. “Run what you Brung” as long as it is Street legal with valid registration, Insurance, and 200 tread wear tires. With a limit of 80 drivers and our run group format you will get a lot of runs. This is “Show me what you got Saturday” so you will need to be fast if you want to take home an award in the Compact, Modern, Classic, and Sports Car Classes (we may add more classes based on registration). Plus, The FAST16 drivers, regardless of class, will start in the Bonus Round on Sunday.

Sunday is Fun Day! We will start the day with a full round of laps on the course running the opposite direction from Saturday to get familiar with the layout. Now the Fun begins with the Head-to-Head AutoX Challenge. The course will be turned into a giant loop with a line down the middle splitting the track in half. With one car lined up on each side you will race to see who can complete their lap first and move on. It’s one thing to put down a fast lap against the clock but what happens when we ramp up the pressure? Lined up across from another driver with a flag drop start: Jump the start, you’re out. Hit a cone or spin out, you’re out. Get beat to the line, you guessed it, you’re out. Not so easy to stay calm, cool, and collected.
We will use bracket style pairings for the AutoX Challenge. Stand by for more updated structure for the bracket racing.....
For those of you planning on attending the RacingByrds AutoX Challenge Presented by Falken Tire, please read this important information:
Enter Auto Club Speedway at Gate 1 / Cherry Avenue. Our event will be in Lot 6 (Across from Kart Track) Our Lot 6 Gate opens at 7am both Saturday & Sunday. Early access to the pit area will be available on Friday from 10:00am to 6:00 for trailer and RV setup WHEN CAMPING IS AVAILABLE.
COVID REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS EVENT:
PLEASE HAVE YOUR MASK ON WHEN YOU ENTER THROUGH THE GATE OFF CHERRY AVE. All racers, crew members, sponsors, and staff will be required to bring facial coverings to use when signing waivers, going through the registration process, drivers meetings, during awards, and at any time when interacting with others.
Social Distancing: Each racer and their crew member will be required to social distance (6’ separation) from other people.
If you don’t feel well, Please Stay Home: Everyone entering the event will be required to answer the health screening questions and submit to a temperature check. Anyone who begins feeling unwell at the event or during the 14 days after the event must report to a RacingByrds official.
COVID WAIVER: Everyone who attends will be required to sign a COVID Waiver
Overnight Camping is Allowed Friday & Saturday. When Available
TICKETING / ENTRY PROCESS FOR THIS EVENT:
Your entry for this event must be purchased through RacingByrds.com as a single event ticket before the event. (Sponsors will be on Our Gate List)
If you have a purchased ticket, please print it out or have it available on your phone or device. No Tickets or Credentials will be mailed to you.
When you enter our LOT 6 Gate:
1) There will be a single point of entry. Please Show your printed ticket or downloaded ticket. You Must complete the Covid Health check & Waiver process to receive a wristband and entry into event. (Wristband Must be worn at all times during the event and Pro Tip - keep it on for expedited Sunday am entry.)
2) Your ticket includes a Crew Member - if that Crew Member is with you at entry, we'll health check, waiver, & wristband them at that point! Anyone arriving separately or late Must be on the check in list!
3) Registration, ALL Waivers, Tech forms, car numbers, and run groups assignment will all be completed before access to pit parking.
Please Print out the attached Racing Byrd’s AutoX Tech Card. Fill it out at home and bring it with you to turn in to the Racing Byrd’s Registration Team.
OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE:
The waiver and registration process will be as “touch-less” as possible. Please bring your own pen to sign waivers at the gate (we'll have disposable pens if you need one). There will a portable wash station beside the restrooms as well as hand sanitizer at various locations. Racing Byrd’s and Falken staff will be wearing facial coverings when interacting with customers. Lunch will NOT be served on Saturday or Sunday at this event.
